Stereo potentiometer is a type of potentiometer generally preferred in audio systems. Potentiometer is an adjustable resistance product. The resistance value is adjusted by rotating the shaft on it.

 

Logarithmic potentiometers are very popular, mainly among the types of non-linear or non-proportional potentiometers whose resistance varies logarithmically. Logarithmic or “log” potentiometers are commonly used as volume and gain controls in audio applications where attenuation varies as a logarithmic ratio in decibels. This is because the sensitivity of the human ear to sound levels has a logarithmic response and is therefore non-linear.
