GDT introduction: Gas discharge tubes (GDT) are alternative for voltage spikes It uses noble gases contained in ceramic tubes to provide a circuit path. The breakdown voltages of the devices have a wide range (tolerance up to 20%). Major applications are high frequency telecommunication lines, stations, security systems, HID and high quality Surge Protection Devices (SPD).
