7806 Voltage Regulator - TO220
The 7806 is a three-terminal positive Voltage Regulator that limits voltage output to 6V, making it useful in a wide variety of applications. The 7806 is the most common because its regulated 6-volt supply provides a suitable power supply for most TTL components.
Each type includes internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe area protection, which makes it essentially indestructible. If sufficient heat reduction is achieved, they can deliver 1A output current. Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with external components to achieve adjustable voltages and currents.
