Kontaflon 85 - Dry Lubricant Spray
KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontaflon 85 is a completely dry lubricant that does not contain oil, grease and silicone. The lubricating solid particles consist of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene).
PROPERTIES
- Surfaces sprayed with KONTAFLON 85 have the typical properties of PTFE: Water repellent, Non-stick, Dirt-repellent. It does not lubricate or lubricate. It is non-conductive.
- Resistant to temperatures ranging from -100°C to +260°
- Non-flammable after evaporation of the solvent
- Resistant to chemicals.
- Resistant to temperatures ranging from -100°C to +260°.
- Good adhesion properties due to small amount of binder.
- An optimum alternative to mineral oil, oil-free lubricants and release agents are required wherever clean, colorless.
APPLICATIONS
KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontalon 85 can be used near or on sensitive materials: textiles, paper, cardboard, wood. It can also be used on sensitive plastics and in the presence of aggressive chemicals. When very thin, non-contaminating lubricant films are required, e.g. For lubrication of ejector pins in plastic injection moulds. PTFE has a very low static/sliding friction ratio; Therefore, it is very effective in preventing backsliding. KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontalon 85 is used as a temperature-resistant mold release agent in plastic and elastomer processing.
INSTRUCTIONS
KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontalon 85 is most easily applied using an aerosol can.
The solid active ingredient settles to the bottom relatively quickly in aerosols, concentrates and dilutions. Therefore, the storage container must be shaken and/or mixed at regular intervals.
Surfaces must be clean and free of oil before applying the product. Metal surfaces can be degreased, for example, using KONTAKT CHEMIE Degreaser 65.
KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontalon 85's solutions are sensitive to moisture. During storage, containers should always be properly closed and sealed. Diluted solutions should only be prepared in quantities that can be consumed in one day.
The installations and equipment used must be suitable for the transportation of flammable liquids. If optimum sliding properties are to be immediately guaranteed, the lubricant film must be polished with a cloth or stick after a drying time of 15 to 30 minutes.
The load carrying capacity of PTFE is relatively low compared to other solid lubricants is small. Therefore, in the case of high surface pressures, other solid lubricants (e.g. graphite or MoS2) should be preferred. It is a mold release agent that prevents sticking. However, unlike silicones, it is not volatile and does not penetrate. When components are moved to areas where coatings or adhesives have been applied, there is no danger of wetting problems on adjacent surfaces.
Within the given operating temperature range, PTFE is a material with exceptional chemical stability. No harmful effects are observed when absorbed orally or in contact with the skin. When transporting relatively large quantities, we recommend ensuring good ventilation and wearing masks with dust filters. When PTFE burns, toxic degradation products are released. Therefore, the rule of not smoking should also be applied when using the product. Make sure there is good ventilation when using aerosols or diluents. Further safety information can be found in the safety data sheet.
