RS485 to TTL Serial Level Signal Converter Module MAX485 converts TTL signal to RS485 for long range, high data rate error prone differential communication. Digital communication networks implementing the EIA-485 standard can be used effectively over long distances and in electrically noisy environments. Multiple receivers can be connected to such a network in a linear, multi-drop configuration. These features make these types of networks useful in industrial environments and similar applications.
The modules operate from a standard 5V power supply, allowing them to be interfaced to hardware serial ports of microcontrollers such as Arduino/PIC. They use logical levels. The direction of communication can be controlled with just one digital pin. It is also possible to connect multiple modules together for communication between 2 or more Arduinos. For larger distances, two modules can be configured as repeaters.
